In Loving Memory - Lee Olson

LEE OLSONLeroy A. Olson. He was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, on June 8th 1926. Survived by his wife of 58 years Ona Lee Olson; daughter, September Olson of El Paso; son, Michael Olson & wife Cecilia of Anthony, New Mexico; son, Russell Olson & wife Lauren of Weston, Florida; six-grandchildren; Katherine, Keenan, Marissa, and Travis of Anthony, New Mexico, and Marc and Scott of Weston, Florida. Lee, as he was called, was a member of the PGA of America for 52 years. He was very active in the local organization and was instrumental in the establishment of the Sun Country Section of the PGA. He served his country in the Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged. He graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Journalism. A member of the Master Gardeners of El Paso he enjoyed participating in their programs.

Lee played an important part in the success of Dos Lagos Golf Course from the beginning and for many years after before settling into retirement.  What a fun person to see and be around at the course.  He was a wonderful character and a great teacher of the game.  Well known for his unparalleled feat of back to back eagles on the 16th and 17th holes at Dos Lagos where he tee'd off on 16 left handed and sank his second shot right handed.  Then, if that wasn't enough, he followed that with the same on 17 but tee'd off right handed and sank his second left handed.  Legendary indeed.

We'll miss you Lee!
